Sketchbook Project
I participated in a sketchbook project through the Brooklyn Art Library. I was supporting the library, and introduced it to ArteMotu. Being a part of an international sketchbook library with artists of all skill levels and ages is a vision I could get behind. Sketchbooks were scanned, or physically in a library for patrons to view. Eventually my sketchbook was residing in New York. The library attempted to move their location to Florida. An unfortunate truck fire occurred in route, and burned many of the sketchbooks. Mine survived! Sadly in May of 2023 the library closed, after sending the surviving books to their homes, or to other libraries.
This project started in December of 2019 and ended August 15, 2020. I took images of my book, and paid for it to be scanned thankfully. .

I love sketchbooks because there is no demand they be perfect. They are a think tank, a journal, a place to practice new or old processes. The pieces here can be crude and it is totally fine.
I started this sketchbook Project through the Brooklyn Art Library independently in December. Then more of my friends in ArteMotu wanted to do it. I ordered another one, and skipped between the two a bit, then I decided to join them together. We submitted them by August 15, 2020. { I am not sure if my friends submitted, actually. People get attached. I find it is when I let go that I make room to create something new, something more. It is a hard part of art. We put ourselves into our work, and .. get attached. Part of the attraction to this for me was knowing I would have my authentic messy self out in the world at large. EEK! You sometimes have to have a push to let go.
Enjoy!
PS. On occasion these do inspire new finished works. My raffle is in here, and masks and clothing designs are, after a fashion. :-)
